Founded in 1959, Rodney Strong was among the first modern wine pioneers in the Russian River Valley, planting his River East Vineyard in 1968. He was one of the first to plant Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley and among the first to champion Chalk Hill as its own appellation. When Tom Klein, a fourth-generation California farmer, purchased Rodney Strong Vineyards from its esteemed founder in 1989, he saw a great opportunity to achieve a new level of prestige for Sonoma County in the world of wine. In the 20-plus years that have followed, Tom has catapulted the entire portfolio of wines to extraordinary heights. His team of winemakers, lead by Rick Sayre, who has been at Rodney Strong for 30 years, continually crafts world-class wines that capture the essence of the region’s distinct characteristics. Dedicated to Sonoma County, these wines are produced exclusively from four of Sonoma County's finest appellations:Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill, Alexander Valley and Sonoma Coast. With countless awards including Winery of the Year, Rodney Strong represents Sonoma County winemaking at it’s best, and these three California classics are well worth pursuing.
