Penfolds is one of the oldest and most well respected wineries in Australia. Located in South Australia, Penfolds was established by English doctor Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife Mary. They built their home in 1844, and surrounded it with vine cuttings they brought from the south of France. Penfolds is most famous for its top of the line Grange, Australia’s most prestigious bottling, but wines from the Koonunga Hill line represent everyday value. First produced in 1976, Koonunga Hill is named after Penfolds’ renowned Koonunga Hill vineyard in the Barossa Valley. Celebrating over 30 years of vintages, it has established a reputation far exceeding its expectations as a commercial, entry-level wine.
